Drones and flight equipment
Spraying, inspection and washing aircraft, plus a tethered station to power them.
DJI
Agras T50
Agricultural spraying drone, designed for flat crops and payloads of several tens of litres. Sometimes repurposed for roofs, although its design, flow rate and downwash were not intended for that use.
Cited in: Roofs: tiles, slates, steel sheeting
DJI
Mavic 3 Multispectral
Multispectral imaging drone: it detects the chlorophyll reflectance jump (red edge) well before a biofilm is visible to the naked eye.

Drone Volt
Hercules 20 Spray (low pressure)
Spraying drone fed through a 50 m hose from a ground motor pump (80 L): up to 18 L/min and 10 bar at the nozzle. The manufacturer intends it for treating roofs, facades and other surfaces; a high-pressure version (250 bar) is also in its range.

Elistair
Safe-T tethering station
Tethered drone station: continuous power supply, and the cable limits the consequences of a loss of control. In return, the cable adds snagging points on chimneys, aerials and trees.

Lucid Bots
Sherpa
Washing drone supplied with water and power from the ground. Cited for industrial cladding and glazing, it remains a low- to medium-pressure washing tool.

Skyinnov
Spraying and cleaning drone
Drone and spraying kit package (adjustable arm controlled from the remote, two on-board cameras). The manufacturer quotes up to 40 m in height, up to 30 min of spraying flight and around 500 m² per hour. The pump-to-drone hose is sold separately.

Cleaning and treatment products
Biocides, cleaners, a water repellent and a gentle method for historic buildings. Before buying anything, check the technical data sheet and the product’s authorisation for your substrate and application method.
SCALP
BATI’NET M
Ready-to-use algicide treatment combining a biocide and a detergent additive; according to the manufacturer, it also works on greasy or black soiling, with no rinsing.
Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
Cited in: Hypochlorite or quaternary ammonium
Remmers
Arte Mundit
Peel-off paste for gentle cleaning (poultice), cited as an example of a controlled-contact method that an airborne applicator cannot replace on a historic building.

SCALP
ANTI-M
Ready-to-use, no-rinse treatment against green deposits for roofs, facades and floors, which the manufacturer presents as suitable for drone spraying; its compatibility with the finish of an EWI facade still has to be checked on the technical data sheet.
Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.

SCALP
AQUA 05
Non-foaming facade degreaser, which the manufacturer states can be applied by drone, for greasy pollution deposits on cladding. Compatibility with the coating is confirmed on a test area.
Cited in: Metal cladding
SCALP
FACANET PAE
No-rinse facade cleaner, presented by the manufacturer as suitable for drone spraying, for soiling caused by air pollution.

SCALP
PIERRE AQUA 89
Water-based facade cleaner for stone, presented by the manufacturer as suitable for drone spraying. It does not replace test areas or the conservation officer’s opinion.

SCALP
SCALPFUGE 35
Colourless, microporous water-based water repellent for roofs and facades, presented by the manufacturer as suitable for drone spraying. It requires a clean, dry and sound substrate before application.

Pure water and access at height
Alternatives and complements to the drone for glazing, solar panels and work at height.
Haulotte
Articulating boom lifts
Cited as an example of a mobile elevating work platform that is sufficient for a house: in our comparison, the access cost is 2 to 3 times that of a drone pass.
Cited in: Drone, MEWP or scaffolding
Unger
HydroPower (deionised water filters)
Ion-exchange resin filters that produce deionised water, which dries without leaving any residue on solar panels and glazing.
Cited in: Solar panels
Unger
Telescopic pure water poles
Pure-water-fed poles, effective up to about twenty metres: inexpensive and with no work at height, they remain the benchmark for low-rise buildings.

Measurement and monitoring
Instruments for basing decisions on measurements rather than estimates.
Kestrel
Kestrel 3000
Pocket anemometer that measures wind speed, temperature and relative humidity, and calculates the dew point: a way to check conditions on site on the day of the job rather than relying on a forecast. Our articles cite the Kestrel range without naming a model; this one is a suitable example.

Kipp & Zonen
DustIQ
Soiling measurement system for solar panels, to find out the real gain achieved after cleaning.
Cited in: Solar panels
Cladding and roofing materials
The substrate dictates the choice of product and method.
ArcelorMittal
Granite®
Range of pre-painted steel for cladding and roofing, available in versions for different exposure conditions and target durability. The organic coating is the real material to protect during cleaning.
